I remember the big man from South Carolina
I was surprised he transferred inside the division
This will give us some big men
Thanks for your ino
You do a great job
DFS was a top 30 kid in HS and almost a MCDAA...6'7-6'8', super long arms, very very good player....we loved him as super long SF out of HS and would have got him if he did not have a child he wanted to be closer to in college....Va Tech, out of necessity, played him almost exclusively at PF, and even being woefully skinny for ACC level post play, he averaged 6 pts and 7 reb a game as a TR FR....he has been a beast all year in practice and weightroom, and I expect him to be the starting SF next season and once the rust wears off be an all SEC caliber talent by SEC play
Harris was another kid we liked out of HS that chose to stay home and play at USCE...he is a GREAT shot blocker and runs the floor very well....IMO Horn was an abysmal coach at USCE so he got next to no coaching his 2 years there on post play...he has very good touch out to 17 feet or so, is a very good FT shooter, but is super skinny and at least at USCE, did not score much in the post....he will thrive in our up tempo system IMO...he averaged around 7 pts, 7 reb, and 3.5 blocks a game as a Soph at USCE
Both should help a ton
Thank you. I learned a lot.
Bullis assuming Pat comes back what do you see our starting line up looking like and the rotation with DFS and Harris along with Kasey Hill and Chris Walker. Is Kasey good enough to overtake Scotty at the point or is that locked down?
Bullis - As long as you have your crystal ball out...
What do you predict our starting 5 to be in November?
Is Billy Jr. a future coaching candidate ala Brian Shottenheimer or do you expect him to contribute on the floor?
Billy is usually loyal to his SRs so by that logic can't see newbies starting day 1 over invested seniors
That said think ultimately talent rises to top and by mid year see guys like Hill/DFS if as good as advertised start if not play majority of minutes
Given scotties defense/ability to hit spot up 3, think will play a lot at PG/SG with Hill (if Hill plays up to ranking) and MFII will come off bench given he plays horrible defense (that must change if he wants to be more than a specialist + work on a mid range game...rebounding is solid to his credit)
Think DFS/prather/MFII split 3/SF minutes with DFS getting 22+ min
PF will be yeguette/walker mostly
And 5 will be PY starting with DH getting 15+
Think will find more minutes for Walker/Harris by playing jumbo line ups with both on court with DFS at SG (if DFS shows can hit 3) and either Hill or Scottie at PG given all can rebound and hit face up baby jumpers
Will be interesting to see who has to sacrifice / who BD makes sacrifice if new guys are playing better vs SRs...would think best man plays, just like calimari did with darius miller v t jones and mkg in lineup
Nothing close to what I'm hearing!
Kasey will start....maybe/maybe not at the expense of Scottie starting, but Kasey is not coming off the bench...he is the PG we have been missing the last few years, no dissrespect to Scottie or Erv, just reality
DFS will start as well....he is leaps and bounds better than Prather...who played well this year but is still just a great ATH that gives you good D and energy buckets...Casey still cannot shoot a lick and is shaky handling as well
what will be our weakness next year? outside shooting?
how good of a shooter is Hill and Walker?
IMO Hill looks like a D-Rose kinda PG
scorer + break you down off the dribble
Young/Walker if Young turns pro
Don't look at it as weaknesses.
UF will finally be a supreme athletic group again, next season.
Half court defense, gap control defenses, press, etc should be even stronger.
Rust, stamina etc will be an issue for the transfers and learning curve for the freshmen.
