Maybe we still have a QB competition
I wouldn't transfer lol
He should stay
Driskel has had flashes but can you honestly say there has been steady progression? Not sure he is the answer.
No you can't. He looks the same he has looked since the beginning.
More like he has regressed.
Wonder if champ will go back on saying driskel is the starter next year
I think it's time to give Brissett a serious look and see how he improves. Driskel has not shown any signs of improvement. Nothing to look forward to next year if he's still the unquestioned starter. Maybe that's why JB feels he can still win the job.
We won't win a championship with JD the kid doesn't have IT...Teddy B was miles ahead of JD unfortunately.
the reason we went Driskel was our piss poor Oline...i think if we have a solid Oline...we see Brissett next year...providing he doesn't transfer out!
Goons belong in hockey.
The most frustrating thing watching tonight was to the see the progression of Teddy B vs. the progression(or lack thereof) of Driskel.
Driskel came in as the #1 QB, but has not gotten any better at decision making/pocket awareness.
We shall all see in the offseason... honestly, I'm waiting on Grier.
Spring practice just got a lot more intresting tonight!
I agree if we had a Oline bissett is our QB
Coaching too ....we act like we was winning in the 4th quater
Johnny Football would have looked bad the way our OLine played. 1 out of 3 to were on JD the others happen because or left side of the OL couldn't block a middle school team.
I guess you've been watching practice? Why would any of y'all say Brissett is better without actually seeing him play better. You think if Brissett was lighting if up everyday in practice and making the right reads everytime he wouldn't be starting? I'm not saying Driskel is way better, that's why the QB battle lasted until the first game. But the coaches are playing the guy they think is better.
If Brissett wasn't on roster some would be calling for Morningwood or Tyelr Murphy to take the starting job. JD is pretty much a freshmen QB taking his lumps. Give CCS 40 days to gameplan and he'll beat 90% of the teams in the nation. L'ville played 7 and 8 in the box on most snap..JD hasn't got to the point of making the "throws" like Teddy. He may never get there but when he's had time his play been solid all year.
Our O has been an issue all year but I'm more upset about the other side of the ball than what we didn't do on O.

I agree Grant and I was telling Dundee this earlier. Teddy B doesn't impress me with his arm, hd impresses me with how he knows how to play the position. He knows where his protection is and he knows where the open guy is, after that most of his throws weren't that hard last night. And in not trying to take anything away from how good he spins it, it's just more impressive to me how smart he is. Our QBs got zero coaching last year and we will see if year 2 under Pease show big improvement, I think it will.
I realized we weren't going to light up the scoreboard and when we got down early, it was going to be very difficult to get out of the deficit. I'm sure we had a totally different game plan and we weren't able to execute because of the game situation.
BUT, like you said I was much more disappointed in our defense. Giving up those long third downs as well as not being able to man up against the receivers was very discouraging. I really did not think that Louisville would be able to have their way with us, but they certainly did with Bridgewater throwing strikes to open receivers throughout the night. We seemed to come out ready to lay them out, which we did with some ferocious early hits, but once they got up and dusted themselves off and kept coming at us, we just weren't ready for it.
I still believe we have a very bright future, the only thing we really need to work on is playing as the favorite. It's been a lackluster effort every time we were supposed to cruise to an easy victory. I'm not sure if this is on the coaching staff or just some of the upperclassmen's attitude and personality, but this certainly needs to be fixed going forward.
Teams have the blueprint to beat UF after this game. Spread us out in 4 wides and expose the LB in coverage then when the S comes to help take a shot down the field. Love Bostic and Taylor but they are suspect vs passing game. We MISSED JJ more than anyone could even imagine lastnite.
It also takes a very good QB to do it, so it's not like it's just a matter of scheming us. Thankfully we don't play a QB of his level (especially if Murray goes pro) next year. Most QBs would be knocked off their game after that vicious hit that Bostic laid on him, but it didn't phase Teddy at all as he made some of his best throws of the night during that same drive. Also, Bridgewater's running ability made us play zone more than we'd like, so that also opened up passing lanes, as we're much better when we can man up. Though even when we did man-up, our CBs weren't able to blanket their WRs like we had done previously this year.
It is somewhat scary knowing that Morrison and Taylor will be starting at LB next year with their poor coverage ability, but we should be better at getting to the QB next year with ROPO, Fowler and Ball, which will help disrupt their flow. The CBs should be great although I was probably most let down by their play last night after being consistently beaten and not making plays. As you mentioned, missing Jelani was huge last night as his coverage ability would have helped stop those over the middle throws.
