When will we know for sure what happened, and how long he will be down?
Unless UF Sports Information releases something today, there won't be any official information forthcoming until the Monday press conference.
I've heard three versions, all from people who say they know something:
1. Broken ankle and gone for the season.
2. ACL and gone for the season.
3. High ankle sprain, could be back by Georgia.

I've heard broken ankle...Driskell time!
Gracie-on TOS and who used to coach at Trinity and knows the family well says it is a broken ankle.
And that's a first down!
The people I've talked to are either family or friends of family and nobody is talking right now. JBIII isn't answering the phone or responding to text messages.
Pretty sure he wouldn't be back by Georgia if it was a high ankle sprain but I could be wrong.
Georgia is four weeks away. Some guys come back from high ankle sprains quickly and for others it's a much lengthier process. If it is a high ankle sprain how soon he returns will depend on how he responds to treatment. If he's a fast healer, Georgia is not out of the question. If he's a slow healer it could be a couple of months.
But right now we just don't know.
You're right. It depends on the severity and how they respond to treatment. I shouldn't have rushed to judgement. I've been seeing more buzz about it being a high ankle sprain recently, which I guess would be the best case scenario.
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick ass, and I am all out of bubble gum.
Broken tibia is the latest possibility. I got a call in the last hour from someone who said it's an MCL tear, too.
We know he's hurt his leg. We know he didn't finish the game yesterday. We know there has been no announcement from the UF SID with an update. We know there are at least a half dozen folks out there who all say they know someone close to the situation who say they know the extent of the injury.
We know all that.
What we don't know is what the injury is nor do we know how long he's going to be out or if his career as a Gator has come to an end.
With Brantley, I think he would be back by UGA if its a high ankle sprain. Hes not exactly a dual threat so a high ankle sprain doesnt hurt the main part of his game. A high ankle sprain IMO hurts a guy like Jeff Driskel alot more.
Just coming over to wish Brantley the best of luck. Would hate for the injury to be anything serious.
God needs a Safety on His team. RIP 21
Much appreciated. I think the real college football fans hate it when any kid gets hurt.
Just wanted to drop by and send wishes for a speedy recovery as well. Hopefully nothing serious.
Really sucks for JB because it looks like he was starting to win fans over who had doubted him since last year. If he's out for the season then he just needs to recover and start prepping for the combine.
John Brantley has been seen on campus with a boot on his right foot. The injury is to his ankle. I've heard the injury is not that severe.
Prayers and best wishes for John. Hate to see any player go down, hope he is back on the field soon.
Just saw him on campus outside in a stadium with a plastic boot/brace and crutches.
