I sure hope he isn't but how many times have we seen this over the past four years? You know as well as I that Kenny has done this several times in games and the outcome has rarely been any different. Really like to see us run a play at the end of a half or end of a game that didn't involve one of our guards dribbling the ball down to five seconds and then trying to go one on one.
Billy Donovan didnt call that shot, Kenny Boynton did... Seen that play too many times from Erv and Ken, would've preferred pick and roll or not a broken play call. Tough game, we need a closer on the road which Boynton is supposed to be but clearly hasn't with bad shot selection at end of game. 33 threes? Not what we're looking for even with PY in foul trouble.
If that was not the play Billy D drew up then why did Billy have KB run the point. Its the same exact play pretty much every time he has the ball at the end of the game, and it was the same exact play when walker was here. If Billy didn't want it to happen like that you think he would either coach it out of them, or have Scottie running the point. Logic says that is the play Billy D wanted, and I'll bet you that ocean front property that the next time were down 1 or 2 points we will run the same exact play again.
Boynton is far from terrible..that was bad shot selection, yes, but our squad pissed the game away..no second chance points..were also beat by 12 on the boards..saying Boynton is terrible is showing a complete lack of basketball knowledge.. Tough loss.. Im nervous about our tournaments coming up, away from the O Dome we arent playing good basketball which boils down to not being able to pound the ball inside..got to have an inside presence on the road..
Murph wasnt the guy to look for tonight...
How about the great 3 point play Boynton had. Boynton has won far more games for the Gators than he has lost. Bullis is absolutely right - Boynton is one of the best we have had. Its not as if Missouri is bad - they will definitely make the NCAA tourney and would be top 20 if Bowers had been healthy.
The problem is not Boynton, it's CBD and it's over a decade old. He is an awesome coach in many aspects, but he still has not mastered the X's and O's in late game situations. Just about every team in America looks better in late game situtations than we do. If you think back over Billy's career with the Gators, you can count on one hand the games we have one in the waning seconds, and all fo them took miraculous individual plays by the kid to make it happen. None of them were by design. It's sad, but I'm sure coach will start to take a look at this more closely, now that everyone is picking up on his weaknes in that area.
Frazier stroked it the best but couldn't get into the rotation the final ten minutes when he was 4-5 and 10 pts. Def could've given a rest to one of our guards who couldn't find a shot late in the game. Puzzling
Young needs more touches in the post along with Murphy
OP is a moron
Seems like I've read post like these the last 2-3 years several times. Gators just have to have a better plan in game situations like last night, pure & simple. Still need to focus on improving our FT's. Close game are determined most of the time by how well you shoot 7-9 FT's, and we shot very poorly again.
MO played very good perimeter D, contested most shots, clogged the lane & made the Gators a 1 demetional team last night - rely on 3's, which is the lowest % shot on the floor.
We needed 2 pts to win while in the bonus & took 3's. Plus they were mugging Gators like crazy in the lane all night. I would have taken it inside for a shorter shot or hope to get fouled & go to the line!!
Oh well, take care of biz at home Sat. then hope for a revival in the Rockies next week!
Down to a 1 game Conf. lead with 5 to play. Gators are snake bitten every time they break into the Top 5 or higher!!

Certainly he's not awful - if anything, he's the opposite. And I never condone calling one of our players "awful." However, that was a ridiculous play and Boynton's shooting has been a liability all year.I do understand the frustration. In all likelihood that game cost us a #1 seed.
No Cain, no gain.
Agree. Why we don't use Frazier as we did Humphries in those situations is puzzling to me.
Remember guys, we only needed 2 pts to win as we were down by 1 with the ball! Only needed a FT to tie or a short mid range shot to win or a drive to the basket!!
Team still needs some work & last night again shows an area we need to really focus on. It's cost us two games this season already!!
I'm still on the bus - not gonna jump off with a close loss!
