Duke is not a better job than UCLA .
Last time i checked UCLA was in a better location , had more titles , and produced better pros.
I love the "more titles" schtick! Too bad that didn't lead to greater success post-Wooden. Duke could lose Coach K and pick from 90% of the current coaches to be his successor. Can ucla?
Better location is subjective, and what does pro players have to do with winning in college?

A lot of kids today have no idea who John Wooden is i bet. Kids recognize Duke, UNC, KU and UK more than they do UCLA when they think of current power schools.
UCLA basketball = Notre Dame Football
would say UCLA >> Duke....not clear Dook is Dook w/out Coach K.....UCLA has won titles , produced oodles of NBA stars post Wooden + less competition in a very fertile recruiting ground / less competition (USC sucks) / big city-bright lights of LA vs north carolina where battling UNC and NC State + ACC schools etc
when and if Coach K retires think Dook steps way back....plus Dook prolly has higher academic standards to get in
if you a 18 yr old where you going to go?? LA with the models and sun 24/7 or a bunch of math majors at the harvard of the South??
New Pauley Pavilian >>>> 100 yr old Cameron indoor
thats why a guy like Howland who has been to 2 Final 4s last 10yrs, multiple NCAA tourneys, top ranked recruiting class this yr, made NCAA tourney / ranked top 25 team is on hot seat -- UCLA expects Final 4s / elite 8 caliber programs year in , year out & that aint unrealistic goal like it is at schools like NC State etc
Wow. I'm glad that we have such bright lights in the big city of Gainesville.
You guys put too much stock in that stuff, and its actually a slight to those programs, to suggest that IMO. Sure, it helps - with some kids, but if it was that important u$c wouldn't suck because all of the ballers that ucla couldn't take would just go there.
Very debatable on the better pros thing. Outside of Love and Westbrook, UCLA's group really isn't that impressive. Duke has more pros, and arguably better players as a whole. Irving, Brand, Battier, Deng, Boozer.... all solid players. At best, i would say it's a tossup.
If Florida makes it to the final four we gotta be in the 2nd tier
Jrue holiday Darren Collison
thats why Howland on the outs...he hasnt produced enough NBA talent for UCLA standards...yet he still has 3-4 top tier NBA guys b/w westbrook, love, jrue etc among others
U$C has gotten plenty of big names due to bright lights alone - see OJ Mayo.....look how many elite southern football players end up at U$C vs florida/southern schools due to the LA angle .....same for scUM -- miami gets kids that they shouldnt from out of SoFLA due to miami life
again, if your 18 -- where you want to be?? durham or LA
look at UCLA - got jordan adams and tony parker from GA ...UCLA football gets east coast kids that they shouldnt get also
Dook is a 1 program school in terms of permanence on the college basketball greatest scale....not clear it carries on IMO w/ some random next coach ....see UConn for that example of how things play out when a legend retires
Howland is on the outs because he's not winning enough. Do you really think that NBA players mean more than winning? It ain't even close ... winning is paramount.
u$c got Mayo because of improper benefits.
Miami is in SFL, bad comparison. u$c gets them because of a winning tradition and pro prospects, I would say that trumps living in L. A. by a considerable margin.
If I'm an 18 year old, with my pick of schools, I would look at my pro prospects FIRST and to win SECOND.
You said it all, my friend.
Take your nonsense to the UCLA board
Beatings will continue until morale improves
Im sorry but as a Mavs fan Darren Collison blows
My tiers are based on coaching jobs really, not so much program success over the past few years.
You can argue that Florida is in the 2nd tier.
better question why are you posting here Brooklyn lol... Shouldn't you be out scouting coaches?
Agreed, he got dominated by Florida when he was at UCLA too.
He's not going to UCLA. End of story. Fla. about to re do the O. Bet his name will be on it or in it!!
Lon Krueger tried the NBA. He got fired by the Hawks in one year and went to the Knicks as an assistant and got fired with the head coach the next year. He went back to college the next year.
They should fly to Spokane and not leave until Mark Few signs a contract or calls the cops. Then, they should be waiting at Brad Stevens house when he gets done with the tournament. If that fails, they can sign Jay Wright. He's been begging for a new gig for years.
FWIW, that would be my plan for us if Billy left, though I'd be quietly talking to Shaka Smart at the same time I'm talking to Brad Stevens. Shaka didn't leave for Illinois, I don't think he would leave for UCLA (not sure why, but whatever). He would consider us from being here, but he may just love his current job.
