Does appear that the locker room is being made over for a press conference... Seems there is one for 3pm today...ppl saying its about Golden...
I think Golden is a good hire.
He was screwed over at Miami and never got a fair shake.
No matter who they hire they are still 3 years away from competing with UF, SCAR and UGA
Golden is a nice guy, I'm not worried about him at all. I think he'll win some games and do better than Dooley, but elite coaches win in their first 2-3 years, and he didn't!
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
I figure its about golden or gruden, I'm not an insider at all so info could be total bs...it's just what I'm hearing...
There was no way he was ever going to win down in Miami. Shannon didnt leave a ton of talent and no way Golden could recruit with the pending sanctions. He was/is stuck.
If it's Golden and some of you think it's a "Good Hire", read these Vol boards LMAO!! They are talking about butt chugging and throwing up, if it's AL Golden, saying can the boosters stop it and what not. HAHA!!
Not sure how credible this guy is... UT bound?? College Football Rumors: Al Golden Preparing to Leave Miami Previous: Oklahoma Sooners Host Bedlam
LOL, I keep reading and one guy said he guarantees he will show up at Golden's intro and BOO him the whole time!! This is HILARIOUS!!
Yea with sanctions pending it is probably in Golden's best interest to bounce but to me it just seems like the same type of hire Dooley was...
Who do we look at out of their current class if this takes place?
UT fans will go berserk if they hire Golden-makes me laugh
And that's a first down!
OK, but that's an excuse and Wil Muschamp had plenty of excuses but found a way to win 11 games in his 2nd year with a first year QB, no playmakers, and a first year OC. You see the difference? Al Golden is Dooley 2.0 according to UT fans, and I can't say I completely disagree!
Except the talent part, Miami has plenty of talent to work with and so did Muschamp.
That's exactly what they are saying. They should go after Kirby Smart, he will be a really good coach IMO. They won't though, because they're Tennessee.
I just can't judge Golden based off his Miami years. You can call them excuses but to be honest I don't think any coach would have done well down at Miami.
That is a dumpster fire program running on E. Even born & raised Miami kids are picking Louiseville over UM.
Yea I don't get the hire either but I'm not complaining lol
I got you, but let me ask you this. Would you be the least bit concerned about Tennessee if they hired Al Golden? I wouldn't, and I might be wrong but I just think Muschamp would wipe the floor with him for years to come. Of course, Muschamp might wipe the floor with EVERYBODY for years to come, so who knows?
Hiring Golden? Lol
"Who was your source? Church mice in here....." - Coach Muschamp
The last guy that commented on the Vols board said "If we hire Golden, we should have kept Dooley"
I wont be concerned about Tenn for another 2-3 years regardless of the hire. Just like no one should have feared Muschamp the first year he was hired. Our program was a mess and needed much change before it could become competitive.
I think that program is a MESS and needs a couple more years before they can be competitive regardless of the coach.
Who knows after 3 years though.
Golden is a good coach. Really got the most out of his team this year. They overachieved.
Kirby Smart has no HC experience. He'd be a horrible hide for the situation Tennessee is in. Jmo
Golden can't get a good opportunity anywhere...
Temple, Miami, was considered for Penn State, now Tennessee...
As much as I dislike the Vols, that is a great opportunity for a HC. They have the support, facilities, etc. and it's in the SEC. It's a good gig.
Goons belong in hockey.
