What a great game:
1. This group really likes to play with each other ala the 04s and Humphrey. I think that has not been the case every year since them.
2. One of the great things about this team is after your best perimeter guys has been frustrated by Wilbekin, Wilbekin gets a rest and the best perimeter opponent has to contend with Boynton.
3. It appears that the talking to for the Frosh worked quite well. They appeared much to be playing much smarter, with much more focus and intensity.
4. Defense is contagious. When everyone else is playing tough D, you do not want to let down your teammates. I hope the contagion infect Hill and C.Walker too. It is really great that this program is becoming known for not only offensive guys but defenders ala Noah, Brewer and now this team.
Great post, so much energy and togetherness with these guys. Billy D is an unbelievable coach, and I'm so happy he got #400 today! If we're playing likethis going into the tournament, the only thing that can stop us, is us. I realy want to get Randle though, I have a feeling PY is gone after this season.
Winningest Program in College Football since 1990!
all the credit to SW and defensive gameplan....cut off the head of the snake as they say is only way to go....lock up defense on pressey made this a total blowout...they had no answer
SW improved his ball handling a bit too it seems, they didnt press much as didnt score ever but we got into our sets cleanly today
P Young looked like an elite explosive athlete tonight.....where has that been last 2+ yrs?? guy was exploding off court and timed his jumps really well to have a great game on boards/defense
great game by MikeRo/KB/Murphy -- all played like guys that will cut checks playing high level pro ball somewhere for 10+ yrs
Yeguette - amazing guy is having his knee drained and still showed great athleticism/intensity out there -- back to doing all the little things really well
and no Prather due to injury too -- first 6 guys really locked up big time
losses like Zona and KSU happen, and we will drop a few more this season...but this is the best defensive team BD has ever had....the title teams had better individual defenders, but this unit is better as a team....and that will keep us in any game we play this season....
not so sure about that
We had tougher games in those years and Noah was a shot blocking machine
Uh ... I'm pretty sure he emphasized "individual" and "team" in the comparison.
About that defense the boys are playing ...
Does anyone else feel as if we're either having an off defensive night, or it is the result of extended "scrub time", when someone scores 50 points?
I unfortunately couldn't watch the game. Could someone please provide a short recap. Like did we knock down a ton of 3s or turn them over a lot for easy fast break points to score 83 points? From looking at box score it seems like a pretty even scoring attack from everyone. I see we played great D from reading some of the posts and seeing we held them to 52 points.

we are a few games into conference play and still blowing teams out by 20...haven't had that...i don't think EVER...and it isn't because of our Offense, it's because of our Defense...we are turning teams over...being active on the D end...talking, helping, and always recovering!!!!!
Insti: what was the issue with the freshmen, not sure if i missed it or what, but why did they need a talking to, and who did it?
awesome thanks! +1
Well we don't have backups at the 4/5 positions but we are a terrific rebounding team. Team defense is as good as we've seen, as Bullis said. We seem to have a player out of our 3 guard rotation to have brain farts each outing. Today it was Scottie but he still had a double double. Next year should be great but we lose Murph, and how do you replace him except for getting another Murph in the fold-that player is going to Stanford unfortunately. If Prather stays healthy, I'll go with our top 8 with anyone on a neutral court. Wish Billy would have a run of good fortune where he has the numbers and distribution he wants of his players. He can flat coach. [twocents
Good to see Young rebounding better. We have to have that out of Patric and he has stepped up the last couple of games. Team defense is very impressive. Even more impressive is that we are doing this with several players battling injuries. Once the team gets healthy they should be even better. Nobody wants a piece of this team right now. Go Gators!
Patrick Young played like the beast we all know he can be. This team has a lot of cohesion & are unselfish. We will be in every game we play this year.
I am saying the level of competition was much higher then than it is now. The team might be better overall but hard to say since that 04 team was loaded with great defensive players against better competition.
IDK about the competition being better, that's hard to compare except for league play. I surely don't consider the early season schedule competition better back then compared to this season's.
Through 16 games:

2012-13 Florida: Eight games vs. KenPom top 100, eight opponents held under 50 points, 14-2 (4-0).

There you have it!
Nice Andy. Who were the 2 early losses to in 06-07?
Kansas in the Vegas Invitational (wish we'd gotten a rematch in Atlanta) and Florida State in Tally (Thornton had 28, we had 19 TOs).
Was at the game in Vegas...awesome game and atmosphere despite the loss...was like a KU home game at the Orleans Arena lol...like 200 Gator fans and the rest KU
GREAT GAME .....remember it like yday....KU had guys like julian wright and darrell arthur both went off big time....are either in league still???
remember we found out afterwards Corey B was sick as hell and puking in locker room before game but he wanted to play so bad with his boys he toughed it out / think he had a bad game but still love the HEART out of this guys -- way they battled as brothers and loved playing with each other
LOVE that our boys still knockin big time in NBA ....sucks we lost that game but our boys all about the journey
"fueled by Brandon Rush's clutch, aggressive work on defense and on the defensive boards, Kansas made the champs taste defeat for the first time in a long time, 82-80, in overtime in front of a loud, proud KU crowd, part of which spilled onto the court after Corey Brewer's three-point attempt at the buzzer clanged off the rim.
Arthur, limited to three minutes in the first half because he had two quick fouls, finished with 19 points and nine rebounds in 16 minutes. Wright, the MVP of the Las Vegas Invitational, contributed 21 points and 10 rebounds. Combined, that's 40 points and 19 rebounds, compared to 26 and 12 for Noah and Horford."
And Brewer had mono, but maybe we did not know it yet.
Donovan wasn't happy with how they closed the Texas A&M game and ripped into them in the hallways following the game for their poor effort.
