  • I love Billy. Yeah, we may fall short sometimes, but he turns our guys into men. He recruits the right way, and coaches the right way. I wouldn't have any other coach, and I wouldn't trade missed titles for buying players like UK. Let's get a good mojo thread going for the tourney. Go gators!!!!!

  • I'm tired of the ragging as well. We have a good team and an elite coach. Lets get by NW State and then see what happens

  • Yeah there are lots of bball programs (NCAA) and organizations (NBA) that would love to have a 2x National Champion, 5x SEC regular season champion pedigree coach (and he does it the right way) They don't grow on trees! Billy D is the man!!!

  • Maybe the greatest hire in the history of major college sports.

  • Great it's close to your home Bullis & you get to go see the Gators. Sure hope we see the boys pull it together & play their best 6 games of the season!
Also hope a decent crowd of Gators show up to support our boys. Had a good crowd in Nashville.
Keep us posted on what's going on out there-glad you're going!

Only potential negative there is if we meet up with Kansas in the elite 8. The place will be packed with KU fans and will feel like a true road game. Damn I hope VCU or UM beats them!

  • I love Billy as much as anyone but I don't think he is above criticism.

Damn sunshine pumping on this board is getting a little ridiculous. I don't like constant negativity but constant sunshine pumping is just as annoying.

If someone wants to express criticism I have no problem with it as long as it is done in a constructive manner.

Not trying to be one. I even said so in OP. he's not the best coach in the world, and he doesn't always make the right calls. But he is a great coach, a good figure, and I wouldn't want any other coach. I started this thread to respect him and get some fan energy about a run in the tourney

I was not actually talking about you. Just taking this opportunity to vent I suppose.

I agree....no question...still want to win another title or 2 while he is here

  • Donovan's a great coach, it's when his teams get too 3 happy is when i get pissed off.

Ole Miss game we just lost is a good example of that.

    CLF4L

  • Another thing I love about Donovan, he has become a great tournament coach. After the 1999/2000 runs we fell into oblivion losing in the first weekend five straight years (Temple, Creighton, Michigan St., Manhattan, Villanova) and there was some serious question about how good Donovan really was. Then we bounced back with back to back titles (3 SEC tourney titles and 2 national titles). Even though we fell into the NIT for 2 years we still won 3 NIT games in 08 and 2 in 09. After that we bounced back into the NCAAs with a real tough 1st rd OT loss in 2010 to Jimmer. We have since followed with back to back elite 8 appearances. Although we may lose tough games (Butler, Louisville) it feels good to know that your coach is an experienced winner and will have his team ready to compete with anyone. I have great faith in Billys preperation for the tournament and look forward to another deep run starting Friday.

    GO GATORS!

I don't think criticism really bothers him, especially from posters on this or any other board. I will say this though, people can knock him all they want, but find a better coach for Fla in basketball. He's as good as it's gonna get at UF. If that's sunshine pumping, then toss me in the catagory. I can't knock success. Find a better coach with comparable basketball digs, resouces, players ect...
