  • This article has me wondering... Will we play as much nickel without Elam? I mean, he was fantastic in run support and was lauded for his ability to play close to the line. We've got some talented safties coming in and on the roster, but can anyone get up in the box like Elam did?
I'm only pointing it out because the article mentions how the SSLB position was "extinct" in 2012.

Muschamp talked about Marcell Harris on signing day like he thinks Harris can play at least a very similar role to the one Elam did.

Yeah but even though Elam was good his fresh/soph years, he wasn't this years Elam... Even if Marcell is a future great can't see him allowing us to go to almost exclusively nickel. We'll see though. I'm sure the coaches will be working that issue early in the season.

Speaking of which. Any chance someone can give Marcell a call and see how his recovery is going?

  • Any word on how morrison's weight is?

  • My biggest question is where the freshman play and if Champ simply slots them at different positions and lets them fight for the starting spot. Trying to get them to pick up multiple positions that quick may be a struggle and I thought I read at the AA game Choppa struggled picking up their simple system so that worries me. I think you have it right with Ball Morrison Taylor to start it off, but by the end of the season it will be totally different or a fairly large rotation. I think we will probably see just as much Nickel this year as last, it puts our best athletes on the field and allows us to do more things. We were one of the most dominate run defenses in the league with strong run support from the secondary. Cell ending up not being an EE could prove to hurt and I think Poole may keep the "Elam" spot warm for him

  • I think McCray's availability had a part in our decision to play more nickel as well.

250 and he's grown to 6'3". nah I don't know for sure. Hopefully the closer to 240 the better. It's always good to see the Gatorzone Heights and Weights updated come spring time.

  • Listed at 218 on GatorZone now. Believe he was last listed 212 there.

I think you will see the most significant weight changes come closer to spring. That's when their training regimen will peak for early this year. The biggest thing I see here is the lack of weight on our lb core. A run stopping LB.

They didn't change anything from last year except adding the EE.
So all the measurements are basically from the start of last season.
Interesting Note: Tyler Moore was listed at 6'6 290 on the Nebraska website, Gatorzone has him at 6'5 312.

I'll check the season rosters when I get home to see whether any heights and weights have been updated. I do know they updated redshirt statuses, and they normally do weights along with those.
