1st Florida priority: stuff the run

Florida's defensive goal always is to stuff the run but Alabama presents a real challenge with its interchangeable dynamic duo of tailbacks in Trent Richardson and Eddie Lacy.

  • I think this is the week will use more 3-4 than 4-3. IMO Powell is better standing up than with his hands on the ground atp. Powell or McCray as stand-up end(s) gives the DT's extra support bc the tackles have to account for the stuns and pressure coming off the edge.

  • Forget trying to stop their offense for a minute and think. How will you score? Bama defense is the best I have ever seen. If they put the same emphasis on Florida they did Arkansas its really gonna be a long day! Arkansas was bigger on paper than Florida and we out manned them so I wouldnt try that. Also remember the speedy offense of Oregon against LSU? LOL we are better so know what that wont work neither! However will be a great game to watch and good luck.

  • Having been watching Alabama football for a long time and writing about college football for more than 45 years I would say this Alabama defense wouldn't be in my top five of great Alabama defenses. It's good but can't hold a candle to the 1992 defense and I don't think it's as good as the one in 2009.

The 1961 defense with Lee Roy Jordan was absolutely incredible as were the defenses 1978 and 1979.

This one is good but I'll reserve judgment until they've done it for an entire year and even then I have serious doubts they'll be as good as the aforementioned defenses.

I watched Arkansas-Alabama. Alabama's defense is good but Arkansas isn't nearly as good as last year. I'll take that 2009 defense any day of the week over this one.

Best Alabama defense ever? I'd have to agree with you about 1992. Those guys could get after the passer and had the secondary that shut people down.
