GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- Florida coach Billy Donovan said before the 2012-13 season began he thought the Gators might be playing the toughest non-conference slate in his 17 years with the program.
Florida coach Billy Donovan has had his team ready to play against one of the nation's toughest schedules.
The numbers are certainly backing that up early on in the college basketball season.
According to RealTimeRPI.com, Florida currently has the No. 4 RPI in the country and has faced the nation's 21st toughest schedule.
The latter number will continue to go up as Florida gets further down its schedule, starting with Saturday's game against No. 8 Arizona, which is currently ranked at No. 16 in the RPI.
No. 6 Florida has already racked up three RPI Top 100 wins, and seven games left on the schedule are against teams currently in the Top 100 of the RPI.
Donovan has done his best to make sure his team stays focused, despite beating some quality opponents by big margins.
"I do think in life that the hardest thing to be able to handle is success," he said. "We’ve talked a lot about being able to handle that."
Below are the current RPI rankings for Florida's first seven opponents, according to RealTimeRPI.com.
61. Middle Tennessee
140. Florida State
153. Savannah State
254. Alabama State
