Tight ends 'gotta get better'

Clay Burton

Clay Burton and the rest of Florida's tight ends have struggled so far this spring.

Florida's tight ends have been a disappointment in spring practice so far, and offensive coordinator Brent Pease made no bones about it. They've "gotta get better."

    • There is usually a good reason that a kid plays DE. So no wonder they have an issue with two DE's trying to catch a ball.

    • I'm sure we do need some work; but I'm not ready to give up on them yet. The flow of the game can help dictate the seperation that these TE's will get. I'm sure there will be some scheme based seperation in games that we are pounding the rock with the run game. Waggles and moving pockets off of play fakes will get those TE's moving with the QB in the opposite direction than the LB's that are flowing of their initial reads. Hopefully the hands are better in live action, but there's still plenty of time for those guys to get better in that regard.

    • Wish AC would of panned out. I thought he was back for a while, then boom, he's gone again. But we go and sign the #1 and #2 TEs in the country, while losing Weis at the same time. I think Pease is better, but Weis still had some clout and pull with offensive recruits. Anyway, I'd hope these two were further along. But one was injured and the other hardly played last year. It's probably going to be a mix of Burton, Westbrook for the run game and the other two for passing downs. I just hope there's no more bs plays from Burton to Burton haha. If it works, whatever.
