Darious Cummings was committed to Ole Miss.
That changed Sunday while on an official visit to the University of Florida, when the 6-foot-2, 300-pound defensive tackle flipped his pledge to the Gators.
Cummings simply posted “Now I’m a Florida Gator! #GladToBeBackHome” over his Twitter account.
Prior to his visit to Gainesville Cummings mentioned how special it was to have the opportunity to play for NFL great Bryant Young along with head coach Will Muschamp and defensive coordinator Dan Quinn.
“It’s an honor to talk to Coach Young and want to coach me, and Coach Muschamp to want to coach me and Coach Quinn.”
He originally signed with Florida State out of Astronaut High School in Titusville, Fla. as a member of the 2010 class. After injuries hampered his career with the Seminoles, he transferred to East Mississippi Community College this past summer.
This season at E.M.C.C. he recorded 26 total tackles, four tackle for losses and three sacks. Cummings will enroll at Florida in January and have two seasons of eligibility left.
247Sports currently ranks Cummings as the nation’s No. 21 junior college prospect and the No. 5 defensive tackle.
