Mitch McGary, who is taking some vacation days in Jacksonville, will do an unofficial visit to Florida on Monday.

Mitch McGary (6-11, 255, Chesterton, IN/Wolfeboro, NH Brewster Academy) has narrowed the field down to six schools. He will be taking an unofficial visit to Florida Monday.

Great stuff! I'm getting Realy excited about our chances with him. Hope he has a amazing visit. Sounds like he enjoys fishing too. Franz next time you talk to him remind him cedar key is only a hour away from gainesville also. I will take him fishing anytime he wants to go. Haha.

good stuff Franz...have heard however, that this will likely be a short visit, essentially just a few hour stop over on the way back from vacation....we will see what actually happens when he is here and if he gives us a serious look/visit as this is likely the only time he will come to UF before deciding....getting him here, however, is another good step

He told me he's working out the details already for a football weekend visit but this visit will be all day Monday. Florida will get more on campus time with him than either Duke or North Carolina.

We will see....this may play out like Tyler Hansbrough...UF recruited him earliest, longest, and best, but in the end even though Tyler loved UF and may have wanted to come here, he ended up at a blue blood school when all was said and done...I could see the exact same happening with Mitch

true, but blue bloods are stil blue bloods and even winning 2 NC has not changed the casual fan, parent, or recruits opinion of UF enough to be at the same level as the blue bloods....but despite that BD keeps trucking, gettting good kids in the program, and winning....but we will always lose more recruiting battes vs. blue bloods than we win, just a fact...

My point was that UF is now a place where you can win a title which was not known when Hansborough decided.

FYI most all of them team is back home now until classes start, so none of them will even be on campus when McGary visits, no chance to bond with the team, etc....this visit is basically a courtesy drive by because we have been recruiting him so long and he is in the area on vacation.....

Sorry, but this has been in the works since the spring.

I hope in this case you are right...IMO we must get a return trip this Fall for things to get interesting for UF...and as I have said before, if we do get that official in the Fall then we will be right there for Mitch until the end

No question that the follow-up is important since McGary is going to do an unofficial to all the schools on his list.
He was in the planning stages for unofficial visits three weeks ago at the Super Showcase. Florida was always going to be the first unofficial.
