DB Marcus Maye
The Gators got some good news on Monday when Melbourne (Fla.) Holy Trinity Episocpal safety Marcus Maye made a verbal commitment to attend the University of Florida next fall during a campus visit with family to Gainesville on Monday. His coach, Tracy Biggs, confirmed the development.
“It's official, Marcus is a Gator,” Biggs said following a meeting between Maye, his family, and Florida head coach Will Muschamp on Monday afternoon.
The 6-foot-1, 195-pound Maye will pair with Shelby (N.C.) Crest defender Rhaheim Ledbetter – who committed on Friday – to give the Gators a superb duo of safeties in the Class of 2012.
Rated as a four-star prospect by 247Sports, Maye checks in as the #120-ranked overall prospect in the country. He is the 15th verbal commitment for Florida in the Class of 2012, and fourth pledge projected to play in the secondary for the Gators. Maye joins the above-mentioned Ledbetter, along with Bradenton (Fla.) Southeast cornerback Brian Poole and Hallandale (Fla.) defender Willie Bailey to give UF and excellent crop of defensive backs for the Class of 2012.
