Martin to make fans forget Fontana?

Sophomore second baseman Casey Turgeon has tried to teach freshman shortstop Richie Martin everything he knows.

Florida fielded one of the best shortstops in the country -- and school history -- last year in Nolan Fontana. But freshman Richie Martin is earning rave reviews in his place.

The reviews on this kid are through the roof, maybe our baseball team will be better than I thought.

I always felt like, from a tools standpoint, Fontana's ceiling didn't leave him much room to grow. It will be interesting to see Martin develope and what he can bring to the table.
Mentally, Fontana was as tough as they come. That might be where we miss him the most.

He was also incredibly smart at the plate. That's going to be just as tough to replace. He knew how to work through pitches early on to help the rest of the lineup.

Good stuff.. excited to see him play..
biggest key is how he performs after errors on the field or when he goes on a slump at the plate..

Yeah that's what I was referring to, his mental game was off the charts. Very heady player.
Excited to see what Martin brings to the equation.
