ORLANDO -- The Florida Gators are making a push for two of the top prospects in the state out of Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando.
Can the Florida Gators convince Ha'sean Clinton-Dix to have a change of heart?
Incoming Florida head football coach Will Muschamp visited with both Michigan running back commitment Dee Hart (5-7, 180) as well as Alabama defensive back commitment Ha'sean Clinton-Dix (6-2, 185) on Thursday during a whirlwind recruiting trip through the state of Florida this past week. On Saturday night, following the FHSAA Class 6A state championship game, Clinton-Dix admitted that the Gators are making a bit of a push for their services.
"(Muschamp) came down to see us Thursday," he said. "We had a nice conversation. Nothing too much though, we exchanged numbers and he said he would get back to me soon."
Hart -- the Class 6A player of the year for the state of Florida -- said both he and Clinton-Dix will make an official visit to UF at a date to be determined in the near future.
"Probably sometime in January," Hart confirmed.
Regardless of what happens, it seems entirely possible the two will end up playing for the same college next year.
"I'd say an 85 percent chance," Clinton-Dix said in handicapping the odds the two will line up together next year.
Dr. Phillips came up on the short end of a 42-27 decision to Miami Central in the Class 6A state championship game to finish 14-1 on the season. Florida State RB commitment Devonta Freeman (5-9, 185) rushed for 308 yards on 36 carries and scored three touchdowns in a winning effort for the Rockets at the Citrus Bowl.
