It appears the Florida Gators’ recent blitz for South Carolina commit and Briar Woods (Ashburn, Va.) four-star linebacker Matt Rolin paid off in short order.
Florida linebacker coach D.J. Durkin made an in-home visit with the Gamecock pledge November 28 and two days later Rolin was spotted in Gainesville on an official visit. Just a day ago, Rolins told 247Sports, “It’s a lot to think about, everything’s up in the air right now. Both schools are putting the pressure on me now.”
Then Sunday afternoon, Rolin took to his Twitter account to air out the details of his recruitment.
“Going back on my word is something I never imagined myself doing and it hurts me to do it, but in end I have do what's best for me,” he started.
“That being said. I would like to let everyone know that I have decommited from The University of South Carolina.”
The news of his de-commitment was not the end of it. Rolin dropped even bigger news with a later tweet.
“I have officially committed to THE University of #Florida. I will be wearing #9 as I continue to chase my dreams at #Florida #GatorNation”
247Sports currently ranks Rolin as the nation’s No. 131 prospect overall. He is now the fourth linebacker in Florida’s 2013 class joining Daniel McMillian of First Coast (Jacksonville, Fla.), James Hearns of Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln and Quinton Powell of Daytona Beach (Fla.) Mainland.
