The Florida Gators lost a member of their 2013 recruiting class Thursday evening. Tallahassee (Fla.) Lincoln four-star linebacker James Hearns confirmed with 247Sports that the two parties decided to go separate ways with approximately twelve days until national signing day.
“I’m still in the process of qualifying and they didn’t want to wait any longer,” Hearns said of the Florida staff.
Hearns originally committed to Florida nearly twelve months ago on February 2, 2012.
The 6-foot-3, 235-pound linebacker just took an official visit to Auburn this past weekend and is heading to Kentucky this for his second official visit on Friday. Hearns says the two schools are who he is now considering.
He originally had an official visit to Florida planned for February 1, but that trip is now cancelled with the most recent development.
As he searches for a new school to ink with before signing day, Hearns was to the point with what his sole desire is currently.
"I just want to play ball."
247Sports ranks Hearns as the nation’s No. 200 prospect overall and the No. 7 inside linebacker.
