Florida hosting more top prospects

Florida will be hosting another group of talented 2015 prospect on campus this weekend. The headliner slated to be in Gainesville this weekend is Hampton (Ga.) Lovejoy five-star wide receiver Preston Williams.

Tennessee commit & 5-star WR Preston Williams plans to visit UF Saturday.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pound prospect is currently committed to Tennessee, but has plans to see several other campuses with Florida being his first stop. Despite the planned visits, Williams insists his pledge to the Vols is solid.

Another current SEC commit also plans to visit Florida this weekend. Sardis (Miss.) North Panola 6-foot-5 wide receiver Willie Hibbler, a current Ole Miss commit, will see Gainesville for the first time this weekend. While his is still a current Rebels commit, Hibbler admits he will be listening to what other colleges have to tell him.

Also making his first visit to Gainesville this weekend is Brooksville (Fla.) Nature Coast Tech four-star offensive lineman Christian Pellage. The Gators recently offered the 6-foot-7, 270-pound prospect, and he will follow his UF visit with a trip to FSU next weekend.

Two more highly sought after in-state offensive linemen expected on campus Saturday are Tampa (Fla.) Plant’s Jake Fruhmorgen and Jacksonville (Fla.) Bishop Kenny’s Tyler Jordan.

A pair of Florida’s top prospects are hitting the road this weekend to visit Alabama and Auburn. Apopka (Fla.) five-star offensive tackle Martez Ivey, who admits he grew up a fan of the Gators will put that aside as he checks out the Crimson Tide and the Tigers. His teammate, Chandler Cox, will join him on the trip. Cox, another Gator fan growing up, plans to visit UF for their spring game, where he hopes to meet Tim Tebow.

In addition, Montverde (Fla.) Academy four-star offensive tackle Abdul Bello will make his first trip to Florida State this weekend. Behind Ivey, Bello is probably Florida’s No. 2 offensive tackle on the board.

Updating 2015 Top247

The 247Sports ranking team updated the Top247 earlier this week as the attention has officially turned towards the 2015 class. The aforementioned Abdul Bello make the biggest jump of the Florida targets. The 6-foot-6, 290-pounder went from unranked to the nation’s No. 64 overall prospect.

OT Abdul Bello made a huge jump in the updated Top247.

Recently offered running back Dexter Williams also make a big jump going from unranked to No. 120 overall and four-stars. Florida, along with Ohio State and Georgia are in good shape for the Orlando product.

Florida leans – offensive tackle Martez Ivey, defensive end CeCe Jefferson and wide receiver George Campbellare still considered five-star prospects according to 247Sports.

Additional Notes...

***The NFL Combine is getting underway with interviews and measurements before the on-field testing portion begins Saturday. There are eight former Gators participating this week – tight end Trey Burton, offensive guard Jon Halapio, center Jon Harrison, defensive tackle Dominique Easley, linebacker Ronald Powell, cornerbacks Loucheiz Purifoy, Marcus Roberson and Jaylen Watkins. Follow all results from the combine HERE.

***Florida basketball survived a scare from Auburn earlier this week 71-66 to win a school record 18th straight game. The margin for error is thin this time of year and the test from the Tigers certainly highlighted that for the Gators. With No. 1 Syracuse falling to Boston College earlier this week, the Gators look to be a win over Ole Miss away from being the nation’s new No. 1 team.
