Florida added yet another piece to their 2014 class Friday morning when Deerfield Beach (Fla.) three-star all-purpose back Brandon Powell decided to flip his commitment from the Miami Hurricanes to the Florida Gators.
The 5-foot-8, 175-pound Powell originally flipped to Miami from Tennessee back in August. However, through the fall Powell continued to take official visits, making stops at Nebraska, West Virginia, Tennessee and Miami.
Powell was set to move onto Miami’s campus Wednesday as an early enrollee, but some missing paperwork delayed his arrival. Wednesday was also the day Florida extended their offer, which caused a change in Powell’s plans.
After mulling over both options – Miami and Florida – Powell ultimately decided to head to Gainesville Friday and enroll in classes.
During Powell’s senior season, he rushed for 1,339 yards and 20 touchdowns on 141 carries. He also recorded three interceptions playing cornerback on defense. The 247Sports Composite, an industry generated average, currently ranks Powell as the nation’s No. 36 athlete and the No. 50 player in the state of Florida.
