Florida finally landed its‘go-getter’ Monday night when five-star wide receiver Ermon Lane announce his decision to commit the Gators.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound Lane infamous proclaimed the Gators had “no go-getter” back in April when talking about their wide receiver corps and the addition adds instant impact player to what has been a lack luster position group in Gainesville the past couple years.
“Florida, I just like the campus, the coaches and when I was up there, I just liked the vibe up there,” Lane said.
The Homestead (Fla.) star who hauled in 30 passes for 801 yards and eight touchdowns picked the Gators over Alabama, Miami and Florida State.
While picking the Gators just weeks prior to his senior season starting, Lane has not visited the Florida campus since late March for a spring practice. His trips over the summer were limited to the local Miami Hurricanes.
"I was looking into the schools to see what receivers were leaving, and there was one school I felt like I could go in and play as a true freshman," he told WQAM 560 in Miami.
Even with this pledge in place now, Lane has said he still intends to use official visits other than his one to Florida.
“I’m going to take other visits, to see what other schools have to offer,” Lane told 247Sports last Thursday.
The 247Composite, an industry generated average, ranks Lane as the nation’s No. 1 wide receiver and the No. 16 prospect overall.
