Four-star 2014 offensive lineman Garrett Brumfield made his return to Gainesville this weekend, this time to watch the Gators take on a team the Baton Rouge, Louisiana native is familiar with - LSU.
2014 OL Garrett Brumfield witnessed a game inside the Swamp for the first time Saturday.
“I really enjoyed coming down here to Florida,” Brumfield said. “I love coming to Gainesville, it’s only my second time, but as far as the game I feel both teams played pretty good defense. They capitalized on some bad plays on both sides, but as a whole I think both teams played pretty good and it was a great game.”
This was the 6-foot-3, 275-pounder prospect’s first experience watching a game inside the Swamp. As you would expect during a clash of two top ten teams, the crowd was raucous.
“It’s really loud,” Brumfield said of the Swamp. “It’s almost headache loud, but I enjoyed the atmosphere. It was great coming down here.”
During his time at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium the University Lab standout had a short discussion with Florida head coach Will Muschamp.
“I talked to him very briefly. Basically, he was saying he’s glad to see me. He’s seen me play on film and he was saying he likes the way I play this year, things like that. You know he says he wants to see me here in the future.”
With offers from both Florida and LSU, as well as Florida State, Miami and Louisiana Tech, the junior prospect is not ready to name any leaders, but admits the Gators rank near the top.
“I’m not going to say I have a number one favorite right now, but I really enjoy the program, I enjoy the staff and I enjoy the city, so it’s pretty high up there.”
247Sports currently ranks Brumfield as the nation’s No. 86 prospect overall in the 2014 class.
